WHY YOGA IS GOOD FOR YOU

Updated: Jun 10, 2020
Yoga is not just about working out for the looks, but it’s also about a healthy lifestyle. People who practice yoga find tranquillity in a world consumed with chaos and constant instability.

Yoga is more than just a method of teaching; it is also a way of life. By practising yoga you are somewhat dedicating yourself to a new lifestyle but also culture. Many yogis practise less and less for the visual effects of the exercise but more for the mental side. Yoga holds the power to transform our minds as much as it does to our bodies. Here, is some of the history and mental benefits of practising yoga.
THE LITERAL MEANING OF 'YOGA'
According to Yoga Journal, the word 'yoga' has several translations from the Sanskrit language, and as a result, it can be interpreted in many different ways. The word itself originally comes from the root word 'yug' which means 'to hitch up', but there are also some other translations that come into place such as join, or concentrate. Eventually, yoga has come to describe a method of body and mind discipline.
HERE IS HOW YOGA BENEFITS YOUR HEALTH
Throughout the years, people have studied the benefits that yoga can provide both in terms of instant gratification as well as a lasting transformation for those who practice it. These things are extremely important for people who want to have a healthy lifestyle. With yoga, you can change your physical and mental capacity quickly while preparing the mind and body for long-term health benefit.

DIFFERENT YOGA FOR DIFFERENT PEOPLE
The greatest things about yoga that I've learned is that you can choose which style fits best for you and your lifestyle. Hatha yoga, for example, is really good for beginners because it focuses on basic postures at a comfortable pace. However, if you want to increase strength by using more of your own body’s resistance, power yoga is the one for you. Another example would be Bikram Yoga, Bikram also called “hot yoga”, is the yoga practice in a room temperature that is set to around 40 degrees Celsius, resulting in a greater elimination of toxins from the body through the increased production of sweat.
BOTTOM LINE
Yoga provides both instant gratification and lasting transformation for many different people all over the world. It is a method of teaching and practice, that although very ancient, it is still very applicable and adaptable to each individual's need in the modern world. As a result, yoga has become very popular and has even developed into its own culture.
Nevertheless, when putting it all together, all the benefits mentioned above contribute to an increased feeling of well-being, which helps explain why so many people find yoga so addictive.
